Marinated Deer Wraps!

My husband is very good at grilling. Marinated Deer Wraps is one of my favorite things that he grills. When it is time he will turn his music up, open up a cold beer, and get to work!

The Hubs likes to use the backstrap of the deer to make this recipe. Once the meat has been thawed he will let the deer meat soak in cool water to help remove the gamey taste of the meat. He'll change the water out 3 times while allowing the meat to soak about 30 minutes or so.

Once the meat has soaked, he will drain the meat, and then place it in a metal bowl. He covers the meat with a mixture of Italian dressing and Worcestershire sauce. He does this all by eye so I'm not sure the measurements. I would say it's close to a 5 to 1 ratio! You can let the meat marinate anywhere from 6 hours to 24. The longer the better!

Once the meat has marinated the wrapping can begin!! You will need a pack of bacon, whatever kind you prefer, and a package of cream cheese. Take 1 strip of bacon and cut it in half. Place a piece of deer meat on the end of a piece of bacon. Cut a cube of cream cheese and place that on top of the deer meat. Roll it up and secure the wrap by piercing with a toothpick.

It's that easy! The Hubs place the wraps on a cookie sheet so it's easy to transport to the grill.

Don't they look amazing? They really are!! I'll make a salad, and green beans or sauteed squash as my sides to go along with the wraps.

Ingredients:

1 pkg. Deer backstrap
1 block of cream cheese
1 package of bacon.
Worcestershire sauce
Italian dressing
toothpicks

  1. Thaw the meat
  2. oak the meat in water for 30 minutes. Change the water out at least 3 times or until the water appears clear.
  3. Marinate the meat with Italian dressing and Worcestershire with a 5 to 1 ratio. Marinate for at least 6 hours. 24 hours is the best!
  4. Cut each strip of bacon into half. Place a piece of meat on the bacon. Then, place a cube of cream cheese on top of the meat. Roll the ingredients into a wrap and then secure with a toothpick.
  5. Place the wraps on the grill over indirect heat. Once they are done, enjoy!!
